"....have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and to try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. Don’t search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer.”
― Rainer Maria Rilke, Letters to a Young Poet

Down the lane...

Took a deep breath
And I moved along
Looking back
I see the world
I left behind
I feel the air
I used to breathe
I look up at the sky
I used to stare
I touch the ground
That held my feet
I hear the whispers
That refused to leave
I hear my heart beat
One more time
As I leave behind the pieces
I can no longer find

Looking back
I walked along the streets
We walked by
Stared at the moon
That was yours and mine
Sat down at the café
Where it all began
Held onto hope
Up a mountain so high
Only to watch it slide down
The other slope in a sigh
I laid awake
Every night and day
Looked beyond every lake
For a flutter, a chirp
To see what it was
That I could not see
To understand
Why it was not meant to be

Looking back
I don’t know what to expect
Haven’t figured it out yet
