Rummaging my attic
I found a lost key
That had just lain there static
Through all the years I was born to see
It looked ancient
And yet in the light shone
A brooding darkness that was patient
It lay there plain
Bringing me a sense of calm
That I had only left to gain
As soon as I held it in my palm
It belonged to this lock
That had always been there
In front of every stumbling block
I was only too scared to look where
The key had found me
And all I had to do was unlock
Every fear to make me free
To lift my barriers as one flock
Only then, did I realize
What I wanted to undo, was long undone
The key taught me in disguise
T’is beyond locks and barriers, I must run
It’s the path I’ve chosen
That has earned me this
As I leave the past frozen
Not a moment, I’d want to miss
For neither locks nor keys, ever exist
It’s all in my mind
Fear only persists, the more I resist
Until the lost key, I happened to find!
